At present, my country’s room air conditioner industry is accelerating the phase-out of the HCFC-22 refrigerant under the framework of the Montreal Protocol. In March of this year, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Italian Ministry of Environment, Territories and Oceans, the Environmental Protection Foreign Cooperation Center of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the China Household Electrical Appliances Association jointly issued the second-phase HCFC phase-out management plan for my country's room air conditioner and domestic heat pump water heater industries.

As the Kigali Amendment of the Montreal Protocol included hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) with high greenhouse effect potential (GWP) into the scope of control, the use of low-carbon environmentally friendly refrigerants has become a general trend in the global room air conditioner industry. After careful selection, the room air conditioner industry in my country has made a decision to use the harmless ozone layer, low-carbon and environmentally friendly hydrocarbon working fluid R290 as the next-generation refrigerant.

During this meeting, the relevant person in charge of the Environmental Protection Foreign Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection will explain in detail the second phase out management plan strategy of my country's room air conditioner industry; officials of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization will explain the global marketization trend of R290 room air conditioners; Experts from the U.S. Environmental Investigation Agency will introduce the revision of relevant standards for flammable refrigerants; well-known professors from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Beijing Construction University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other institutions of higher learning will share with participants the relevant R290 air conditioning *New application research results; Haier, GMCC and other room air conditioner complete machine and compressor manufacturers will also introduce their R290 technology research and development progress; Ruifu Chemical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Rheinland Testing and Certification Services (China) Co., Ltd. , Aifa Branch Oriental Vacuum (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. and other industry chain related companies will also conduct technical exchanges and sharing on the safety management and safe charging of the entire industry chain of R290 refrigerant lubricants and related equipment.

Wang Lei, vice chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, believes that for my country’s room air conditioner industry, the second-stage performance goal is challenging.
